Acrodea’s VIVID UI(R) Licensed to Datang Telecom Technology

-China market gains access to popular transfigurable
menu services available in Japan-
Acrodea, Inc. (President: Junya Tsutsumi), headquartered in Meguro-ku,
Tokyo, announced on June 9 the execution of a license agreement with Datang
Telecom Technology Co., Ltd. (Chairman & President: Cao Bin), headquartered in
Beijing, China, for Acrodea’s mobile telephone user interface platform VIVID
UI(1) to be supplied to Datang accordingly.
All three major mobile telecom carriers in Japan have adopted Acrodea’s
mobile telephone user interface platform VIVID UI, which has become the de
facto standard for the UI platform in Japan. Moreover, ‘kisekae’
(transfigurable UI) content that employs the menu transfiguration feature of
VIVID UI has successfully increased sales volume. The market in 2008 exceeded 5
billion Japanese yen, and is expected to rise to 10 billion Japanese yen in
2009. With 3G mobile handsets permeating the subscriber base, the content
market has ramped up steeply in Japan. China can also expect tremendous growth
in the content business, including ‘kisekae’ content, with the penetration of
3G infrastructure.
The licensing of VIVID UI to Datang Telecom Technology on this occasion
will enable transfigurable UI services that are already generating successful
business results in Japan, to flourish in China.
Going forward, Acrodea intends to provide technology information and
service operations know-how concerning VIVID UI, and to support service
development efforts in China. Datang Telecom Technology intends to develop the
transfigurable UI content business on the TD-SCDMA platform.

VIVID UI is a user interface platform developed by Acrodea principally for
mobile phones, and represents innovative middleware that can integrate various
types of digital media content, such as still pictures and animation effects.
