Educational program connects talented students from Japan with international
organizations in D.C. to cultivate global competencies and leadership

sciences and arts, along with the Kyoto University in Japan, today announced
the inaugural Kyoto-D.C. Global Career Development Program (

). The program’s first installment, supported by the S&R Foundation and the
Washington, D.C. Kyoto University Alumni Chapter, aims to provide Kyoto
University students with career development and training opportunities in
international organizations.

"Providing talented students with multi-disciplinary experiences through
cross-cultural programs has always been a key component of the Foundation’s
mission," said Dr. Sachiko Kuno, S&R Foundation president and Kyoto University
class of 1977 alumna. "We are proud to support Kyoto University in this
initiative aimed at connecting international organizations like the World Bank,
NASA and NIH with bright minds from Japan."

The Kyoto-D.C. Global Career Development Program is a U.S. study abroad
program open to Kyoto University students interested in exploring future career
opportunities with international organizations. The inaugural program, which is
slated for February 26 to March 6, 2012, features a Washington, D.C. based
lecture series intended to provide visiting students with firsthand
opportunities to learn from leaders of international organizations.

Kyoto-D.C. Global Career Development Program," said Dr. Hiroshi Matsumoto,
president of Kyoto University. "Our partnership with the Foundation reflects

The selection committee, made up of representatives from both the
Foundation and Kyoto University, conducted both application reviews and
in-person interviews to determine the six students accepted into the program.
